Variables in Bookem are dynamic placeholders that automatically pull in key information - such as client details, payment links, or business info - so your invoices and messages stay accurate and personalised. They update automatically when the source data changes, saving you time and reducing errors.
You can customise invoice content by adding variables to include specific client or business details.
To edit your invoice set up:
1. Go to Settings > Payments & Invoicing
2. Scroll down to Additional client information
3. Type the # symbol followed by the variable name to insert a variable (e.g. #Medical aid name, #Membership number)
Common variables include:
Client personal details (e.g. date of birth and ID number)
Medical aid details
Business information (e.g. Practice number)
Location details
4. Scroll down and click 'Save' when you are done
In the example images below, variables appear in purple so you can easily identify them
