Bookem's EMGuidance integration enables healthcare professionals to issue secure, fast, and compliant digital prescriptions, automatically populating them with patient information and sending them directly to the patient or pharmacy.
Follow these steps:
1. First, get your API key by registering for EM Guidance
2. Now, go to Settings > Team Members
3. Open your team member profile and navigate to the EM Guidance tab
4. Insert your API key into the provided field in Bookem
5. Next, make sure that your 'EMGuidance Field Map' is correct by checking your linked client profile fields and click 'Save'
Click on the drop-down to scroll through available client profile fields:
Bookem will automatically link the available fields. If any are not linked, click here to see how to link client profile fields
6. Navigate to the profile of the client for whom you want to create a script and open the EMGuidance tab
If there are any empty client profile fields, Bookem will prompt you to fill them in, if your client didn't already provided you with the information via filling in a sendable form
7. If the client profile is complete, go ahead and click 'Create new EMGuidance patient'
A script tab will open as per the image below:
8. Now, you can start sending scripts!
Just click 'Issue script' in the EMguidance tab in the client profile.
EMGuidance will open in a new window where Bookem will have auto populated your script with client information from their profile already.
9. Once you have created the script, you can send it via SMS, email, or WhatsApp:
The patient can then also forward it to the pharmacy, if you haven't sent it there directly already
To send a script to a pharmacy, just look the pharmacy name up in the directory, or add a new one, if it's not listed.
Alternatively, you can print the script and give it directly to the patient
All your scripts are saved in the client profile on both Bookem and EM Guidance for complete and accurate record keeping
EM Guidance includes many features that make it an invaluable tool for healthcare professionals:
Fast and secure: Complete scripts in under 60 seconds, with real-time tracking, unique codes for pharmacies, and cloud storage to prevent errors.
Advanced electronic signature (AES): Legally compliant under South African law, providing the same legal standing as handwritten signatures.
Built-in safety features: Includes drug interaction checker, dosage recommendations, and patient ID verification.
Templates and custom scripts: Use or create templates with autofill and repeat functions to save time.
Pharmacy integration: Send scripts directly to pre-listed pharmacies or add new ones. Pharmacies can be directly integrated into the system, allowing you to send scripts seamlessly.
You can start scripting once your TrustFactory AES certificate is issued, usually within 3 days
You can upgrade or downgrade your subscription anytime via the self-service portal in the subscriptions tab
Your subscription can be cancelled after 3 months by emailing script@emguidance.com
For added convenience, EM Guidance offers Bookem users a free 14-day trial without the AES feature, allowing you to test the integration before subscribing. You can view their pricing here.
